Set among the second-hand bookstores and quiet cafés of Jimbocho, Tokyo, the Morisaki Bookshop series follows Takako, a young woman whose life falls apart after a painful heartbreak. Directionless and withdrawn, she accepts an invitation from her eccentric uncle Satoru to live above his small, family-run second-hand bookshop.

Though Takako has never considered herself much of a reader, life at the Morisaki Bookshop gradually changes her. Surrounded by endless shelves of books, familiar neighbourhood faces and the complicated lives of her family, she begins to rediscover comfort, connection and a sense of purpose.

Across the two books, Takako and those closest to her navigate heartbreak, love, family, friendship, loss and the inevitable changes that come with moving forward. Through it all, the Morisaki Bookshop remains a constant—a place where people come together, memories are preserved and books quietly help them understand themselves and one another.

Warm, gentle and bittersweet, the Morisaki Bookshop series is a comforting celebration of books and the small moments that make up a life, exploring how healing can be found in unexpected places and how sometimes a quiet corner filled with stories can begin to feel like home.
