Piper Bellinger is a fashionable, fun-loving socialite whose glamorous life revolves around parties, attention and the Los Angeles social scene. But when one celebration goes too far, her wealthy stepfather decides it is time for a reality check. He sends Piper—and her sister Hannah—to Westport, a small coastal town in Washington, where they must take responsibility for their late father’s run-down bar.

Life in Westport is nothing like the world Piper knows. There, she meets Brendan Taggart, a rugged, no-nonsense sea captain who believes she won’t last more than a few days away from her privileged lifestyle. The two clash almost immediately, yet beneath their constant disagreements is an attraction neither can easily ignore.

As Piper begins rebuilding the bar and discovering more about her father, her family and the community he left behind, Westport slowly starts to feel less like a punishment and more like a place where she might belong. And the closer she grows to Brendan, the more she begins to question the life—and the version of herself—she thought she wanted.
